lab infrastructure

LAB EQUIPMENT

Liquid Scintillation Counter

ICP - MS

Ion Chromatography

GC - MS

micro-Raman Spectrometer & Microsocpe

Anaerobic Glovebox - Inert Atmosphere

Containment Glovebox

Titrator UV-vis spectrometer

High power laser

                                                Muffle & Tube Furnace

Stand alone & Hyphenated Ion Chromatography - ICP-MS

Our lab has state of the art elemental and speciation analysis through Hyphenated Ion Chromatography - Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectroscopy. A different set of chromatographic columns allows us to perform speciation of metals and metalloids in trace levels, as well as determine inorganic and organic anions and organic acids.

Alpha & Beta Spectroscopy

State of the art Liquid Scintillation Counter with alpha and beta discrimination of isotopes capability

micro-Raman Spectrometer & Microscope

State of the art micro-Raman microscope/spectrometer equipped with two lasers and mapping capabilities

GC-MS

Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectrometer equipped with cold trap for volatile compounds analysis.

Potentiometric Titrations - Compleximetry

Automated potentiometric titrator equipped with quartz flow cell and double-beam UV-vis spectrometer, which allows to collect titration and spectroscopic data simultaneously

Glovebox Systems

Our lab is equipped with anaerobic glovebox that operates under inert atmosphere for oxygen sensitive systems and containment glovebox that can operate under different conditions aiming at containment of nuclear materials.

High Power Laser

100W Continuous Wavelength CO2 laser for ablation experiments & synthesis of surrogate explosion debris materials requiring high energy & temperature deposition in short times

Specialized furnaces

Muffle furnace and tube furnace allowing for ashing and materials synthesis at high temperatures (1,200 C) under vacuum or gas flow conditions

Radioactive Material License

Our lab is licensed and equipped to handle, store and dispose mCi levels of Tc-99, I-125, Uranium and Thorium in compliance with Florida Bureau of Health and US Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations.
